Terms You Hear at the Baccarat Table

A live baccarat table has its own vocabulary, and half of it never appears on the screen. These are the words dealers and seated players actually use, defined the way we use them on our floors, so you can follow a shoe without breaking the round timer to ask. Read them once before you sit.

What does Punto Banco mean?

Punto Banco is the baccarat variant we deal, where the dealer draws for both sides and your only decision is whether to back Player, Banker or Tie.

What is the Banker commission?

A winning Banker bet pays slightly less than even money because we take a 5% commission on the return. That fee is why Banker carries a smaller edge than Player.

What is a squeeze table?

On a squeeze table the dealer peels the cards slowly and you can ask for the reveal to be drawn out. Same game, slower and more watchable card path.

What does Bet Behind mean?

When every seat is taken, Bet Behind lets you place your own stake alongside that player's hand. Your bet wins or loses with theirs, but the seat stays theirs.

What is a natural?

A natural is an eight or nine on the first two cards. Either side holding one ends the hand straight away, unless both sides hold a natural of equal value.

What is the Tie bet?

Tie pays when Player and Banker finish level, at 8 to 1 on our tables. It lands far less often than a side bet, which is why the return is larger.
